Really good game, but it needs saves and zombies are going into walls and i cant pick up bones when are in the wall. Thx :D
Reap What You Sow
A downloadable game for Windows and macOS
Reap What You Sew is a top-down action/adventure/farming sim game where you own a plot of land next to a graveyard, and explore the graveyard to find new crops to plant. Most of these plants are cursed, however, so keep your scythe ready.
UPDATE: Following several reports of crashes, I patched the game to better handle sprite recycling/sound management. Also, the Battle Farmer's portrait was showing up in the inventory screen regardless of the class you selected, so I had to fix that while I was in there.

I really liked this. It would be neat to see an official big, non-jam version. :D
Chiming in on the crash reports; I've been seeing this one pretty persistently.
The output I get when I run the game (to a crash) from a command line is:
AL lib: (EE) alc_cleanup: 1 device not closed
Error after opening sound data
Googling that error and haxeflixel shows this issue on the OpenFL library github,
Maybe a recompile with an updated OpenFL would fix the issue?
Crashing is still a major issue, crash time seems randomized. Save feature would be ideal. Minor tutorial for healing and such would be best, possible bestiary or plant ledger would be a cool addition.
UPDATE: Crash seems to occur most commonly at about 5am in the game. Game progress seems to have no effect on changing crash occurance.
Game keeps crashing while I'm just starting out. Is there a way to fix this? I'd also like a save feature for this game due to the nature of my life. What little I've played was quite nice.
Such an adorable game! I loved it, although I didn't figure out how to heal (because I am a moron) and had to start over due to the lack of a save feature. (I eventually figured it out due to reading a YouTube video comment.) But I enjoyed it enough to want to do it all again, so that's a good sign. :) The bit at the end, with the two gravestones... is that symbolic of something?
make a 2ND version of this gam
plzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz MAKE a seque
Great! So cute and simple gameplay, but could you expand the game more? It's very short in my opinion, and it has no saving feature too.
Thanks - this game was made over the course of one week, so there was a lot of content I wanted to include but didn't have the time for. I definitely want to return to this game at some point and add that stuff, though.
I did enjoy the game - the sprites had a pleasingly retro vibe for someone who grew up on the original Game Boy, and it's an interesting take on the gardening sim style. I also liked destroying the local ecosystem with my scythe upgrade.
On the negative side, the game crashed for me after I grew my first pumpkins. This, combined with not have a save feature, meant i lost all my progress, which killed me. I think this was also after your patch.
I did a youtube video on it, which has more of my "in the moment" thoughts: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BrkGTAtkQOI - someone left a positive comment even with the crash.
This was fun. Simple for what it is, but still enjoyable, and it really captures that classic GameBoy feeling. I dig it.
an error thing keeps popping up and then crashing the game.
This was pretty cool! I was halfway through farming my Rubies and the game crashed, but I dug (lol) what I played!
I had a lot of fun with this game even if I personally couldn't figure out how to progress haha
What an adorable little game! This felt so much like classic GB Zelda and those are still my favorite games to this day! I hope you don't mind but I did a lets play of this game. Keep up the great work!
It definitely brought me back to my childhood--you guys nailed the Gameboy feel. Great job!
I'm not too sure on the goal of the game, but the asthetics sure are nice :D
Great game, I got the same thing as DireSloth though. Planted the seed, then nothing after it grew. My scythe got disabled as well.
Oh hey, I saw this on Reddit! It looks neat :)
This was wonderful! I loved the Game Boy feel to the graphics, I really like the idea of a harvest moon-like game where you're actually growing your enemies, and I thought the art style was super cute. I also like how the level layout makes it look like you can only cut down those circular bushes when you get the upgraded scythe, but you can suddenly cut down the hedges too.
I think I hit a bug at the end though? I planted the final seed and let it grow into a flower, then the camera panned up to reveal the two coffins and...nothing happened? I walked up there and tried cutting down the fence and interacting with the flower, nothing seemed to work. Also I noticed some brief slowdown when picking up lots of items.
Otherwise, this was super fun, with well thought-out gameplay and a great look.
I have the very same bug to report. Possibly because I was expected to scythe the flower and when I did something else instead, it triggered the scene panning?
I had this same problem! Unless it's supposed to be some sort of symbolic ending or something? Or maybe I'm just thinking too much.
Looks awesome, what engine did you use to make this?
